The available lots range from a roadless escape to a ready-to-build home already drawn up.

Empty plots of land are few and far between in Squamish these days.

Much like the rest of the housing in town, they are also often expensive. Currently, on Real Estate Works (REW), there are 13 lots listed for sale, although several of them have structures built on them which would then require some demolition.

As such, here are five lots with no structures available for purchase.

Squamish rural plots

For about $900,000 you can buy 40 acres located just south of Baynes Island on the west side of the Squamish River. The catch is there are no roads to the land.

“Amazing 40 acres located across the Squamish River,” reads the listing. “Property has been previously logged.”

The listing goes on to say that the plot is RE (resource) zoned, meaning only one principal building would be allowed. Resource zoning from the District of Squamish says things such as agriculture, aquaculture, airport, log transfer, gravel facility, telecommunications tower and horse stable are allowed here.

Other perhaps uncommon uses that are possible for this RE-zoned lot include a child care facility, a kennel or an interpretive centre.

Snowberry Place lots

If driving a boat to land isn’t in the cards for you, then the next cheapest land available is near Quest University on Snowberry Place.

Just shy of $1.1 million, a 6,371 square foot lot is for sale with plans for a seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom home already drawn up.

“Prime building lot offering spectacular panoramic mountain views located in the prestigious University Highland,” reads the description. “Located on a quiet cul-de-sac in one of the finest Squamish neighborhoods, this property is ready to go.”

A website rendering shows a building with a secondary suite as part of the plans, plus a covered balcony. However, the listing says the building permit recently expired.

Strangeway Place lots

Nearby the previous lot, there’s another 6,068 square foot piece of land available for almost $1.5 million.

“Sitting on a quiet cul de sac, this lot boasts unobstructed views of the [Stawamus] Chief and Tantalus mountain range,” reads the description, adding its close proximity to mountain biking and hiking trails.

Unlike the other plots, this one does not come with a drawn-up house, but does boast one of the highest elevations in Squamish, according to the listing. As of March 3, it has only been listed for three days.

Windsail Place lot

Another elevated neighborhood of Squamish, Crumpit Woods, has a plot available for purchase.

Just over 10,000 square feet, the lot is available for approximately $1.25 million. Listed within the last week, the plot is on a downward angle on Windsail Place, visible as you drive upwards towards the neighborhood.

The listing describes the plot as sitting “near the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, is next to parkland and has uninterrupted views of the [Stawamus] Chief. This lot is ready for you to build your ultimate home.”

Dowad Drive lots

A lot in the Skyridge area off Dowad Drive has come up for sale. The lot is 8,370 square feet and is close to Skyridge Montessori School, and is listed at about $1.3 million.

The location is “ideal for your custom home with abundant natural light, all day sun and privacy,” reads the description. “Enjoy being just steps from forest trails.”

The description says it may be one of the last available lots in the region.

“Skyridge is a vibrant and comprehensive 20-acre mountainside neighborhood set up out of the flood plain,” reads the listing.

More lots are available than just these five in Squamish and in surrounding areas like Britannia Beach. Check them out on REW. ca.
